Dried...
Summer has come into all our lives.. The white Anthurium flowers are drying up and I have decided to utilize these properly. Pluck them and dry further and use as dry flowers in old wine bottles or vases to decorate the home corners... Viola, what an idea!
I'm a true botanist and have dry-flower fetish.. :)

Challenge of the month : Patterns and Textures.
With this, I sign off for February 2013's challenge.
I tried hard to justify and come up to the challenge I took for myself.
Few of the days -I goofed up, most of the days -I did it. The whole month was a really tough. Every morning I got up from bed, I had to think what will I click. I even started looking any damn thing to fit my challenge- figuring out the pattern they form etc etc...!
Sounds like going to an extreme. Little crazy.
So, NO more challenge for March.. Just normal photos a day.. :)

The theme for this month is patterns and textures...! I am trying to see that in every damn thing I try to click. While working in the balcony, noticed this pattern on the house opposite the road. Was thrilled to shoot this and make my daily wish fulfilled..!
Sounds weird, but this challenge has been interesting. I am seeing a different thing in everything around me.

My ♥ for dry flowers is since circa 1990s. I always wanted to own a herbarium house, one can say so !
Recently, I chopped down the dying old tulsi plant and kept these stalked dry flowers for a simple makeover...! And viola, the corner actually looks great.

I love collected dry plant parts- leaves, flowers, seeds, pods, petals, small twigs ....! This one is Auracaria cunninghamii 's leaf, commonly seen in gardens. Also, known as hoop pine.

The leaves of this bamboo (picked from Siliguri market) are initially rolled in a whorl and as they grow out (one by one), the give rise to spiral (criss-crossing leaf pattern) phyllotaxy..!
Interesting is botany...Isn't it!!
The sleeping botanist in me loves collecting such unique plants. At times, I wish I was working for a botanical garden like Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew ...!

Evening snack~ Some boiled/ steamed Nendran banana
CSH loves south indian food. Blame it on his south indian genes. I was initially reluctant when he said these are boiled bananas. But it seemed tempting and actually it tasted great. Slightly tangy and sweet. I loved hogging on this delicacy. Supposedly Kerala special.

I have completed the 1st month of the Project 365 challenge, traveled to Gujarat (a land where I wanted to go always), went to Gir National Park, met an old friend after 5 years gap, made some new and close friends, entered my 30s, got lots of gifts from family and friends...January has been truly blissful.. :)

Picked this attractive bottle from Namdharis. Its imported from Thailand and is supposedly the tender coconut juice. Sounds funny.. Its named as Young coconut juice auff inside tnd had bits of coconut slices in it. The packaging is what actually impressed me, though the stuff inside the bottle was just okay.

An one day art-fair, where artists from all around India participat to exhibit and sell their art pieces. The whole Kumara Krupa road is filled with just one thing- art and paintings. The crowd here wass a mixture of artists, homemakers, art-admirers, police and media, and vendors selling tea, coffee, puffed rice with roasted peanuts, ice-creams and not the least amateur photographers like me. It was indeed a great outing.
I did buy two art pieces for my home. I have to wait to display them on my wall.

While I think about the year that passed by, I realise 2012 had been quite a learning year for me.. However, the recent news of gender assault, crime against women has made me angry, feel gloomy and isolated suddenly.. But does that stop the new year from coming into each one of our life?!?
No...
So, here's my wish for each and all of you..
A Happy New Year to Everyone!
May 2013 bring with it all the very best in each of our life ~ peace, strength, patience, happiness, modesty, prosperity, joy, dreams and wishes..
